Moving

Today, I spent most of my day tearing down misc things, cleaning, and packing up our house. We’re scheduled to close on our new home (semi-new, it’s amazing how much destruction a family can do to a house in 2 years), July 7th. We’re being told not to hold our breath on the close date, because banks, and title companies are overwhelmed with the amount of foreclosures on the market, and they can’t keep up with demand for the great deals that are out there.

Can I just say, I hate moving! Did I say hate? No, I loathe moving! Moving in my book has to be a close 2nd to a root canal and a good shot of novacaine. Ok, maybe I’m playing the drama king here, but either way, I’m not a good mover. I grew-up and lived in the same community, and in the same house for 18 years of my life. I love order & a sense of security. Moving tends to make me uneasy, and I don’t settle in too well. It takes me awhile. In fact, we’ve been renting a house for just over a year and a half, and I just now have started to feel comfortable in the house. Now we’re moving!

Among chaos, cleaning, and perpetual messes that come with moving. Moving in our case has some benefits. 1. We’re cleaning out a ton of crap (we have 4 children – imagine with me!:) 2. We’re hopefully going to deepen our roots even further in Vegas (you have to be called – we are!). 3. Because we purchased a foreclosure, we’re hoping the home will be a good investment for us. 4. No more burning money in rent. 5. A sense of community. We’re hoping to get to know people that we live by, and look forward to developing relationships with them. 6. We can finally do to the house what we want to & the value goes back in our pockets. 7. With a place to finally settle into, we look forward to inviting as many people over, including you!
