Windows

I like windows! I don’t like cleaning windows, but I like light shining into my home, so I have a lot of windows. I like looking at the mountains and seeing the great evidence of my creator through windows. I don’t like windows that can’t be opened, because I’m a fresh air guy. I like to open my windows!

Today I open up a window of my life to you. Come on in……this is a personal window you’re entering through…..so no judging!!!

1. Very focused, up by 5:30 A.M. everyday to get the kids out of the house and off to school by 7:00 A.M.

2. Pick first child up at 2:20 P.M., and second one at 3:25 P.M.. 4:00 P.M. I run – literally 6-8 miles. It’s helping, but a big discipline.

3. 5:00 P.M. rest of family arrives home. Dinner begins, chores ensue, and mounds of homework is laid out. 7:30 P.M. first wave of children are read t0, prayed over, and lights out by 8:00 P.M. 8:15 second set of children begin preparing for next day, showers, cloths set out, books signed by parents, bible reading, prayer and lights out 9:00 P.M..

4. At this point I’m very tired, but attempt to re-connect with Angel & do a follow-up of our day. 10:00 P.M. re-plan next day, attempt bible reading, 11:00 P.M. lights out!

5. So the cycle continues on – Alarm – 5:30 A.M..

Why do I open this personal window with you? Not sure, other than just the reality of struggling to balance life, in a very regimented schedule, and not enough time in a day to council, pastor, read, lead, prepare, study, father, be a good husband, etc….

All that said, I love being a husband, father, pastor, friend, but the guilt of incomplete tasks, lose ends that never get tied up, phone calls that don’t get returned, e-mails left unanswered, are all compounding issues in my soul, and keep me up at night. Delegating & empowerment are #1 on my list right now, so leaders, don’t freak out!!!

I’m asking God to give me wisdom & insight through the Holy Spirit, to know how to manage life in such a way, that I will get 16 hours worth of work completed in a 6 hour work window. That is not to mention nightly meetings/counseling, small groups, youth ministry, reading to lead, spending time with Jesus, etc…

To God, I’m your child first, to my wife I your husband second, to my children, I’m your daddy third, to the local church, I will do my best to equip you, but I can’t do it alone. Rise up, open your windows, step out & lead! I can’t go it alone!!

Open your window!!
