Where to start? Where to start…….? In the beginning – GOD created…….??? OK, I’ll spare you the theological jargon, and walking you through the whole Old & New Testament to get to my point. It would be fun though to post a Genesis to Revelation Blog.:) Naaaaaah!! Put away the noose, I’ll get where I’m going sooner than later.
Why did God create people? Don’t write me off! I know, I know (the biblical answer) but for the sake of discussion, wouldn’t it have just been easier to raise Fido the big eared, fluffy dog, that just loved to sit and love on God? Our family dog (Hazel), goes where I want her to. Eats when I want her to. Can pretty much poop on demand (not really, but close). At least for me, dogs are much easier to care for than 4 children that are in constant demand, grappling, struggling, and wrestling with choices, decisions, attitudes, etc….. FYI – I love my children & wouldn’t change things for the world!
Yesterday, I met mad people, sad people, happy people. I met some rich, some poor. A few really jacked up, and even some with disabilities. I’ve come to the conclusion that we all have some type of disability, whether it’s visible or not.
People, people, people!!! Why?? Well, most of you are already answering the question, so I won’t. But I will give you a quick hit.
Why people?
1. Love! Tangible life giving expressions of love in so many forms. I would be wrecked without it! It’s a daily kiss from God!
2. Diversity! I love to hate diversity, but it’s one of those things that every time I look at people that are different then me, with different values, opinions, ideas, looks, etc….I thank God that he broke my mold, or the world would be in trouble.
3. Anger! Weird huh? No I don’t like volatile people that want to shoot me, and would like it, but I do love people that use their anger to identify problems & then it moves them to action. I like watching people become divinely discontent, whether they know it’s divine or not, I still like watching people use their anger to “get er done!” No, anger should be used to identify problems, it should never solve them!:) Some of you were already feeling empowered, and getting ready to take liberty to unleash your anger to solve your problem today. Don’t do that! Activists, chill out!
4. Laughter! Could you imagine if you didn’t have people to laugh at – oops – with? I love funny people! I love people that can laugh at themselves and don’t take themselves to serious. I love a good belly laugh with family and friends & try to at least have one belly laugh a day. Please don’t play off the belly thing, I know how some of you tick! Here’s a challenge: Find someone to laugh with today.
To my family & to the Epic family, I love you guys! I love everything about your person-hood. You love, your different, you make me angry at times (I love it!), and you make me laugh. God made you, God made me, God made people, and it would’ve been so much easier to make Fido, but He didn’t just make Fido, He made you! Why? To be His tangible expression of who He is on planet earth. If no one else says this “I need you!” I see so many reflections of God in you. Yes, we’re flawed, but we won’t always be that way!:))
